An erse of an Embra toon cooncillor has called for traffic-calming measures in south Embra after three people suffered suspected spinal injuries in a crash at the weekend.

Cooncillor Tom Buchanan said he would be talking to the police about improving safety after a car left Gilmerton Station Road and ended up 30 metres away in a field. Three people were thrown from the car and another had to be cut free.

Mr Buchanan, who represents Liberton/Gilmerton, said: "This just underlies the need for traffic-calming measures on this road. It is known as a bit of a rat-run." Mr Buchanan said he would bring up the matter at the next meeting of the transport committee.

Now, you would think that is the sort of Thing, we really ought to be in favour of.

However, here's the good bit.

Lothian and Borders Police said the female driver has been charged with dangerous driving and driving without a licence, while two passengers have been charged with unspecified offences under the road traffic act.

SO WHY THE HELL SHOULD WE DO ANYTHING TO THE ROAD!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I want these people to have traffic accidents.  Preferably without hurting any innocent passers by.  I would also prefer it if they were to die, rather than invent mythical spinal injuries, so they can wangle themselves some invalidity benefits.  So I'd appreciate it if you would email the Cooncillor at and let the stupid eejit know what an arse he is.  Cheers.
