Down at Scarborough, a couple of splendid back to back victories.

Boro 3 Crook Town 2

Boro 3 Crook Town 2

Boro progressed through to the next round of the FA Vase, twice coming from behind to beat Northen League outfit Crook Town by the odd goal in five, on a fine autumn day at Queensgate.

Hallam 2 Boro 4

Hallam 2 Boro 4

A stunning second half performance saw Boro brush aside Hallam on a still autumn night at Sandygate.

However, this has all been overshadowed by the news concerning Boro manager Brian France who took a severe knock to the head from a football while stood in the dug-out at last Saturday's match against Liversedge.

This event, although treated lightly by Brian at the time, preceded a further incident at his home later that evening, when he suffered a black-out and fell backwards down a flight of stairs which resulted in him being rendered unconscious.

He was immediately taken by ambulance to the Hull Royal Infirmary where he was diagnosed as having a haemmorhage of the brain from the force of the ball hitting him. He also suffered three broken ribs and broken sternum from the fall on the stairs.

At this moment in time, he remains under constant supervision in the Acute Assessment Unit at Hull Royal Infirmary, where tests are being carried out to ascertain the full impact of the first incident which it is believed, almost certainly lead to the second incident occuring. He is poorly but stable.

Our thoughts are with his friends and family.

Following the news that manager Brian France may be unable to take charge of the squad for  some time after injuries sustained at Liversedge, an acting manager has been put in place.  Paul Olsson, who guided the team to victory against Crook Town at the weekend, will step up from his role as first team coach and will be the club’s acting first team manager for the interim period.

Joining Paul on the bench at Hallam will be manager Brian France’s son Darren France.  Darren has been cleared to assist Paul at matches by his consultant, following a 15-month battle with cancer, which was treated with a bone marrow transplant earlier this year.
