Well, it was a week of mixed fortunes for the three teams blessed by Mr H this season. Stirling Albions poor start to the season continued with a 3-0 thumping by Falkirk. Although considering where both teams were last year, it's probably not the end of the world, even if the Binos are rooted to the bottom of Division One. They held out for an hour against a team who were playing Premier League football a few months back, but they'll need to get themselves sorted in time for the September outings against Partick and Ross County. Down in Yorkshire, Scarborough Athletics long unbeaten run came to an end at home to high flying Farsley AFC. Boro never recovered from giving away a stupid penalty early on, but there is a chance for them to bounce back in the FA Cup Preliminary Round, away to Chester-Le-Street this Saturday coming. Praise be then for Berwick Rangers who hit the top of the Third Division after overpowering title favourites Clyde at Broadwood on Saturday, thumping them 4-1! The Clyde fans were leaving in their droves with 20 minutes still to play and Rangers saw out the closing period with a comfort bordering on arrogance, as they played keep ball to the sound of "It's just like watching Brazil" ringing out from a celebratory away support. The whole team were "men of the match" with a special mention to Paul Currie for his outstanding contribution. It's off to Hampden next week, and hopefully another 3 points against Queens Park. |
