Dirty thieving Greggs bandits

Edinburgh - it's a bit shit

I've just wasted a considerable amount of my valuable time, scouring through yesterdays Budget malarkey, trying to find the section that refers to a Greggs tax.

I figured that thon thieving bastard Alistair Darling must have sneaked it into the small print somewhere, as he tries to conjure money up from thin air.  What else could explain the sheer horror that awaited me in Greggs this morning.

Because they've put the price of a buttered roll up.  Now I don't know if they've missed the fact that there is a recession on, because they haven't put the price up 1%.  Or 2%.  Or 5%.  No, Greggs have put up the price of a buttered roll by 10%!  You read that right.  10%.

Now I work in a world where there are no pay rises, bankers bonuses are something that only reptilian overlords get, and, thanks to National Insurance rises, I'll be working for less money next month, than I was this month.  Maybe this has escaped the attentions of Greggs, who only last month announced;

"Pre-tax profits came in at £48.8m, up 8% on the £45.2m it made in 2008. The company said underlying operating profit hit a record high of £48.4m."

Well, the boycott starts now!  And let me tell you, with the amount of pies I get through in an average month, they can wave goodbye to their expansion plans.  The dirty, thieving Greggs bastards.
