Carnwath Countdown - T minus 4 days

Nearly there, so if I don't make it back, it's been nice knowing you.

Apaprently;

"Carnwath, although not a large village, is in an important position. At the western end of the Pentland Hills, the village is situated where the roads which run along each side of the hills finally meet, and make it an important junction between the main east-west routes crossing the country.  The location of the the village has made it, historically, an important strategic place, and a castle was built there in the 12th century. The motte, or mound, on which it was built can still be seen.  Carnwath has had a full history ever since medieval times, and retains the character of a small but lively community."

We'll see.

This is what it looked like in 1957.  I'm assuming there will be a few more cars on the road when I turn up.

Possibly James Keitch with a horse and cart, Carnwath, Lanarkshire, early 20th century.

James was a local merchant, his goods in the cart have been carefully packed and covered for protection from the weather and the bumpy journey. That's when my Dads relatives, the Moores, were still here.
